ISBD is now accepting abstracts for consideration for the 2020 Conference.


General Requirements for All Submissions:

  • Presentations are solely education based. The use of any advertising, trade names, or product-group message association is prohibited; this rule will be strictly enforced.
  • Speakers are limited to no more than two (2) speaking roles in the Conference (Keynote lecture, Parallel Symposia and Brainstorming Sessions).
  • Speakers who have their session accepted will be eligible for a reduced registration fee. Regrettably, no financial assistance can be provided for travel or other expenses. Please note that a chair can also double as a speaker, but that chairs who are not speaking in the session are not eligible for the reduced registration fee.

DEADLINE EXTENDED: April 15, 2020 

  • We will begin accepting late breaking abstracts in February.
  • Late breaking abstracts should present data that are ground-breaking, innovative and newsworthy. 
  • Late breaking abstracts will be considered for a Rapid Oral Communications Session. Abstracts not accepted for oral presentation may be considered for poster presentation at the discretion of the program committee based on quality of the abstract and availability of space.

poster & rapid oral presentations | Deadline PASSED

 DEADLINE EXTENDED: January 24, 2020

  • Authors can submit abstract preferences for oral or poster presentation, but the scientific committee retains the final decision to choose the presentation format. 
  • Rapid Oral Communications are brief, 15-minute maximum, presentations that address recent developments in the field.

parallel symposia | DEADLINE PASSED


  • A Parallel Symposium is a moderately formal, 1.5 hour long session that includes (3) speakers and (1) chair/moderator. The chair/moderator can double as a speaker.
  • Each Parallel Symposium should be structured to incorporate audience member discussion, e.g. introduction 5 minutes, three presentations of 20 minutes followed by 25 minutes for conclusion/final discussion.

Brainstorming Sessions | DEADINE PASSED

DEADLINE Extended: October 28, 2019

  • This is a 60-minute interactive session and includes (2) speakers and (1) chair/moderator. The chair/moderator can double as a speaker.
  • A Brainstorming session should be structured to incorporate ample audience member discussion/ participation, e.g. short introduction of 1 minute, two presentations of 15 minutes followed by 29 minutes for discussion. Alternatively, it can be organized as a debate.

  • Pre-conference courses provide the opportunity for more intensive interactive learning opportunities.
  • Pre-conference courses will run prior to the Opening Ceremony on Thursday, June 18th
  • A maximum of (4) speakers, including the chair/moderator, will be eligible for a reduced registration fee; a chair may double as a speaker.
